A few dozen Philadelphia-area businesses are pledging to reduce their impact on the environment.
33 companies including Rohm and Haas, CIGNA and The Vanguard Group have signed onto the Greater Philadelphia Green Business Program, pledging to do things like use compact fluorescent bulbs or recycle office paper.
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council is launching the program. Patrick Starr is the vice president. "A lot of these practices are just old-fashioned conservation. And what they amount to is old-fashioned savings. There are things like trying to reduce the use of bottled water. Then there are complicated things like evaulating your air conditioning and heating system."
Starr says companies get good publicity by being on the green list, and he says they can often save money at the same time.
