As a leader in conservation and sustainability, the Philadelphia Zoo recently launched “Footprints,” a comprehensive initiative designed to offer climate change solutions that benefit people, wildlife and the planet. Through the Footprints program the Zoo is: - Increasing our onsite green practices with the end goal of significantly reducing our impact on the earth and becoming carbon neutral. - Developing a portfolio of reforestation-based, international and regional carbon offset projects. - Offering a carbon calculator to allow people to “offset the rest” while providing habitat for wildlife. - Implementing an outreach program to raise awareness on why sustainability matters and facilitating behavioral change. - Providing volunteers with opportunities to plant trees in our regional offset projects
